Here we are with a new important update for Brizy. I know, I know, it's been a while since the last one but I promise it was worth it. We've improved Brizy a lot in the past months and this update is the foundation for a lot of great things we plan for the following weeks and months.
All the updates going forward will come at a nice 2-3 weeks pace. See the What's next section down below for more information about this.
In this article I'll address the following :
I've said this before and I'll say it again, updates are not released based on the time from the last update, but instead, when they are ready and depending on the scope and complexity of every update this may take less or more.
That being said, this update is kind of special, because this time we've worked on the Brizy Core. Because of that, it happened to take more. A bit more than we have anticipated. This was for the good of the project and will enable us to continue the work on other important features that are coming and a bunch of optimisations, like code output reduction, builder speed loading and so on.
I'm excited to walk you through the main new things we've worked on in this update:
All the borders and shadow options were moved under colors. This will further simplify the interface but most importantly it will let you set different options for the normal and hover states.
We've also improved and tighten up the color picker by adding the different styles in a nice dropdown that was overlaid on top of the color wheel. The height of the toolbars is important when you are working in Brizy and this one of the things we are always looking to improve.
We've improved how you work with the hover states of the elements. Now, when you switch to the hover state, the element you are editing will switch to the hover state as well so you'll be able to see the changes you are applying.
Not only that, but you'll edit the same option when you switch between the normal and hover. For example, if you are editing a border in the normal state, when you switch to hover we'll activate the border tab letting you control the border in hover state.
Might seem like a small thing, but it makes a huge difference in UX because you don't have to remember to change to the border tab every time. Plus if you just changed the border color and you switch to hover, you most likely want to control the hover of the border and not something else.
A cool little thing that not only lets you be creative with your text element but it also showcases the power of the options and tools we've built in Brizy and how they fit together perfectly. In this case the text element and the image upload & focus.
Since we've worked on the text element a bit, why not add a couple of other things, like gradient color. Might not sound so cool compared with the text mask but get this, you can set a different gradient color for each word if you like. Check it out.
Note that there are some caveats here if you are trying to use gradient colors or masks with shadows. Because on how stacking in HTML is built the shadow is put on top. We are still looking into how to solve this.
The element panel was starting to get crowded and it was time to address this with a nice search so you can find your element asap. On top of this, if there are elements you don't use, you can just hide them so they don't get in the way.
As you may know, the block shape divider was a Brizy PRO feature. Not anymore. We've moved it in the Free version of Brizy so anyone can create those nice block transitions.
In this update we've worked on some important optimizations like editor loading, a new CSS system meant to optimize the CSS and clear up the DOM. There is still a lot of work to be done here in next updates, but we've put the bases that will let us do it.
An important thing to understand about optimizations in general in any software is that it is a process and it needs time.
In this update, we've also laid the groundwork for some very important features that are in the works and coming soon, like Contact form V2, the New Design Kit and Import/export over Brizy Cloud.
